Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a natural way of approaching your health, using adjustments to restore function to the body and the nervous system. We combine chiropractic adjustments with different techniques like: functional rehabilitation or PT, posturally corrective exercises, soft tissue work, among others, all to help you achieve optimal function.

What Are Some Benefits?

Here are some common benefits you may experience after getting chiropractic care:

  • Decreased pain
  • Increased range of motion
  • Reduced nerve irritability
  • Improved function
  • Increased energy
  • Less stress
  • Decreased muscle tension

Perhaps best of all, given the opioid epidemic in our country, chiropractic care represents a safe and highly effective way to relieve pain.

Everything Is Connected

When patients come in for care we let them know that everything in the body is connected.

For example, if you have flat feet or no arches, then we’re going to be checking the pelvis and the low back because that’s going to affect the way your pelvis sits and your gait. It’s the same thing with the shoulder. We’re not just working on the shoulder but also the mid-back and neck.

Specializing in Structural Correction

At Renew Family Health Center, we emphasize optimal posture and spinal alignment while improving pain and function. Our approach for corrective care is backed by research for a long term solution.

We offer Diversified, Activator Methods®, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Webster technique and acupuncture.

We adjust based on what the patient’s comfortable with. Perhaps you don’t want to have your neck “cracked” or you don’t want to hear a popping sound. We then can offer flexion-distraction, which is a form of decompression for the neck. We also can use the Activator® instrument, which provides a highly gentle and effective adjustment.

If you’ve never been adjusted before, you may be unsure of what to expect. We let patients know that getting adjusted is something that’s very safe for everyone. Rest assured that we won’t do anything that you’re not comfortable with. When we give that first adjustment, it’s highly gentle.

Before every first adjustment, your chiropractor will explain exactly what’s going to happen. Your chiropractor will give you instructions on things you can do at home after your first chiropractic adjustment.

After the adjustment, it’s a good idea to ice at home and drink plenty of water.

Chiropractic care is remarkably effective at addressing a broad array of concerns. These include the following:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Headaches
  • Low-back pain

  • Mid-back pain
  • Migraines
  • Neck pain

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Sciatica
  • Shoulder pain

Does it hurt to get adjusted?

No.

How often do I need to come in for care?

The doctors will recommend the frequency of your visits based on each patient’s case.

How long will my adjustment hold?

Everyone is different. It depends on how you feel and how your body responds. Some people feel good and their bodies hold the adjustments for four weeks. For others, because of maybe what they do for a living (e.g., construction work), they would come in once a week or once every two weeks.

Should I have a massage along with my chiropractic care?

Depending on what’s brought you in, we may recommend massage therapy to help break up muscle tissue and adhesions to promote healing.
